125 lives were claimed on that particular day when the Kolka Glacier collapsed on the 20th of September 2002. The disastrous avalanche struck on the northern slopes of the Kazbek massif in North Ossetia, Russia. Some of the casualties included a film crew of 27, including the famous Russian actor Sergei Bodrov, Jr. The catastrophic avalanche also buried a substantial part of the Russian village Nijni Karmadon under snow and debris.
